Round the Island Race in the Solent is the biggest yacht race in the UK and in the top three worldwide! Entry levels are always incredibly high - it's the race that everyone wants to enter!

The Round the Island Race is the largest and most spectacular race of its kind in the world. Anticipating 1800 yacht entries and over 14,500 sailors the Round the island race is the most popular single day race on the Solent Sailing Calendar. With no sailing experience required the Round the Island race is an exhilarating and challenging experience that is ideal for client entertaining and team building - Being now the 4th largest participation sporting event in the UK it will certainly leave lasting memories and exceed all your expectations.
First sailed in 1931 which then attracted just 22 entries the race still competes for the Gold Roman Bowl. Starting on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races the 50 mile course westbound to the Needles, round St. Catherines Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy back into the Solent finishing across the line at Cowes. The fleet is split into nine divisions starting at ten minute intervals with the first races starting at 0600hrs from the Royal Yacht Squadron.
The Round the Island Race is a colourful and memorable corporate event for both competitors and spectators alike.
Friday
Training Day |
Guests arrive at the marina of embarkation and welcomed by their professional skipper and crew for the race. A full and comprehensive safety briefing takes place before heading out on your yacht for a training session. In the evening guests head back to their hotel or stay on board to get ready for an early start on race day! |
Saturday
Race Day |
An early start on the Royal Yacht Squadron Line to race around the Isle of Wight. Breakfast and a race lunch are served on board. At the end of the race the champagne is popped ready to celebrate completing the 50 mile course. Crews can either celebrate that evening or depart. |
Sunday |
Cruising day or head back to the marina. |
