The largest and most spectacular yacht race of it´s kind in the world! Over 2,000 yachts and 12,000 sailors race a 50 nautical mile course sailed anticlockwise westwards from Cowes. It´s Formula One on the water! The worlds fastest ocean going powerboats compete in the longest running, most prestigious and certainly most toughest offshore powerboat race in the world. The legendary sight and sound of the awsome monohull machines racing to Torquay and back is an event certainly not to be missed!

The Volvo Ocean Race is one of the most prestigious events on the sailing calender. Occuring ever 4 years these ocean going race yachts will sail around the world, tackling the prevailing winds.

Portsmouth is proud to be the UK stopover with other worldwide ports such as Cape Town, Melbourne, Wellington, Rio, New York, and Rotterdam hosting this grand event.

This prestigious race starts from Goteborg, Sweeden on the 5th November 2005, aiming to finish in the same port on the 17th June 2006.

IN PORT RACING A new feature for this Volvo Ocean Race is a series of in port races that goes towards the overall results.The Portsmouth in port race will take place in the Solent on Monday 29th May. This will give you the chance to see this incredible yachts with world class crews racing up close.

RACE RE START - LEG 8 The Volvo Ocean Race will re start on the evening of 2 June 2006 as yachts sail westwards through the Solent and on their way to Rotterdam. Join us to witness this fantastic race at first hand.

The Construction Industry fund raising event takes place every September and is now the next biggest regatta held in Cowes after Cowes Week. Infact, it´s the largest Corporate yachting regatta in Europe and certainly one not to be missed if you are in the Construction Industry. For some companies taking part, many of their crews have never sailed before, but the LBCC is an ideal opportunity to experience the thrill of racing, whilst raising monies for charity and promoting your business in a unique way.
